Management of EDB «Fakel» reports that a European telecommunications satellite Eutelsat 172 broke the record for the fastest satellite electric orbit raising in just four months since the launch.

On the 4th of October 1957 at 22:28, Moscow time, the mankind stepped into a new space era. The launch vehicle rushed into the night sky from the launch site reaching the first cosmic velocity for the first time and placing the
first artificial Earth satellite into the orbit.

EDB Fakel and the Public Joint Stock Company of inter-city and international electrical communication Rostelecom have signed an agreement on the digital channel “Reserve B village Korolev”. The agreement specifies provision of digital channels and lines for use. The agreement was signed during the visit of Mikhail E. Oseevskiy - president of the Public Joint Stock Company Rostelecom. For Mikhail Oseevskiy it was the first visit to our enterprise. Rostelecom management led by A. Semenov - the head of Rostelecom Kaliningrad division – held a preliminary meeting at EDB Fakel on future co-operation intensions.

Today, we are happy to announce the first SPT140DU firings aboard E172B. The thruster in-flight operation is proved to be successful. It is a reminder that on June 02, 2017 two satellites ViaSat 2 and Е172B (the latter with 5 SPT-140DU thrusters aboard) were launched by Ariane-5 from the Kourou launch site at 1:40 a.m. The Fakel’s SPT140DU are being used on Eutelsat E172B to perform electric transfer and station keeping.

On April 19, it was the courtesy of Jeff Baldwin to make a short presentation of twelve-year application of SPTs aboard SS/L spacecraft to the Fakel employee.

In 2017, it will be 110 years since Sergey Korolev was born. It is difficult to meet a man in Russia who has never heard about this name.

Cosmonautics Day is celebrated on 12 April. For over 60 years humankind explores the universe and meets the challenges raised for us. Humanity managed to overcome the earth gravity and to land space descent on the Moon.

2017 is rightfully considered to be the year of space anniversaries: 60 years since the first satellite was launched, 110 years since Sergey Pavlovich Korolev was born.

The festival of power, quickness, and health was held on April 1 at the Yunost sports palace.

On Aug. 24, 2016,  the telecom satellite manufactured by SSL with the 100th SPT-100 aboard was launched. Over 12 years SPT-100 has proved its efficiency and dependability in space. The main developers of the thruster were Doctors of Engineering Science N.A. Maslennikov and B.A. Arkhipov.  SPT-100 laid the foundations of wide application of electric propulsion for spacecraft.
