The annual space exhibition “Space Tech Expo Bremen 2019” took place from 19th to 21st of November in Bremen, Germany.

This is one of the highest-profile events for space products and equipment vendors.

The international exhibition and conference “Space Tech Expo & Conference Europe” is a European meeting place for space-oriented business, technologies and innovations. The 3-day exhibition was presented by the latest news from technical designers, vendors, subsystems and components suppliers via the system integrators for civil, military and commercial space.

EDB Fakel’s team participated for the 2nd time in this interesting and very useful event organized for the space industry vendors. This year the event showed new developments – low-power thrusters FaberG-34, Plas-10, Plas-34, mini-stationary plasma thrusters for small spacecraft and CUBESAT-type spacecraft. On 20th of November EDB Fakel showed presentations at its exhibition stand about a possible use of EDB Fakel’s thrusters on board of CUBESAT-type spacecraft. The design engineers Artyom Bogatyrev and Dmitriy Goza prepared presentations called Stationary plasma thrusters and thermal catalytic thrusters for small spacecraft. After the presentation all visitors and exhibitors were served with tea with traditional Russian sweets and bread rings.

The exhibition included conferences with the most important topics discussed about the nowadays space industry. Since our enterprise presented new low-power thrusters for small spacecraft, the conference titled “Possibilities for small spacecraft” became of a special interest. At the panel discussion “What to do next: small spacecraft preparation for the further frontier” the panelists talked about the legislative regulation and near-Earth space monitoring in the view of the ascending problem related to space debris and the necessity to consider changing spacecraft insurance conditions both with and without the thrusters. Low-power thrusters for small spacecraft could be one of the possible solutions for this problem.

EDB Fakel held negotiations with the representatives of Russian and European companies on the enterprise’s potential participation in new perspective projects.

FSUE EDB Fakel (a part of the State Corporation Roscosmos) is one of the leading enterprises in development of electric propulsion systems and thermal catalytic propulsion systems operating using Hydrazine. Fakel has a production experience in serial and mass delivery of thrusters both in commercial and state market segments. The share of the thrusters production in the world for spacecraft is about 10%. More than 70 Russian spacecraft (more than 60% of the Russian orbital constellation) and 30 Western spacecraft are equipped with thrusters developed and produced by EDB Fakel. Today EDB Fakel’s partners are ISS Reshetnev, RSC Energia, Khrunichev State Research and Production Center, Lavochkin Research and Production Association, Research and Production Corporation VNIIEM, Maxar (Canada), Airbus, TAS (France), MELСO (Japan), IAI (Israel), OHB (Sweden).

Space Tech Expo Europe is the largest specialized event in Europe for representatives of logistic chains and machine engineering enterprises involved in production, test and engineering services for spacecraft, subsystems and space equipment. Space Tech Expo Europe took place in Bremen from 19th to 21st of November.
