A Proton M launch vehicle with the Block DM-03 upper stage successfully launched the Spektr-RG astrophysical observatory from Site 81 of the Baikonur 13 Cosmodrome on July 13, 2019 at 3:30:57 p.m. Moscow time. The launch and flight were completed successfully.

On June 20 at 23:43 an Ariane 5 rocket vehicle was launched from the European space cosmodrome in Kourou, French Guiana, with Eutelsat 7C broadcasting satellite on-board.

The Information and analysis center for positioning, navigation and timing reports that the spacecraft Glonass-M, successfully placed into the orbit on board of Soyuz launcher on May 27, 2019 has joined the Glonass constellation and is currently being introduced into the system.

On May 30, our legendary fellow citizen and cosmonaut Alexey Leonov celebrated his 85th anniversary. For this occasion, the Library named after A. Leonov organized an event called “A photo for the Hero”. Children took part in aeronautic warm-up and a quiz; later they took a photo and sent it to Mr. Leonov with good wishes.

     On April 12, 2019, EDB Fakel hosted the 7th annual scientific and practical conference timed to coincide with the Cosmonautics Day and dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the start of the lunar program and 50th anniversary of the start of EDB Fakel’s designed stationary plasma thrusters flight heritage.

A visit by a representative delegation from the People’s Republic of China, JSC Materik from the Russian Federation and Thales Alenia Space from Belgium took place on March 19-20, 2019. The Chinese delegation was presented by the China Academy of Space Technology (CAST), the Institute of Telecommunication Satellites (ITS), the Beijing Institute of Control Engineering (BICE), the International Business Department (IBD), the Lanzhou Institute of Space Physics (LISP) and APT spacecraft company.

     On December 17, 2018, a group of EDB Fakel specialists visited G. Budker Institute of nuclear physics of the Siberian branch of the Russian academy of sciences (Novosibirsk). The visit objective was to discuss a possible scientific and technical co-operation when developing new perspective layouts of electric propulsion systems.
